Oliver Heaviside is the genius who recast Maxwell's equations (twenty in form) into the four equations we know and utilize today. Now, you're probably not going to sit down and read the technical papers, but they're worth a quick perusal and it's certainly worth being aware of his innovative techniques and their legacy.
